The Confrontation of Time

How old do you feel right now? When you hear the ticking of the clock does it throw you into the universe next door, or does it drag you back in and ask you to sit and stay a while longer? You’ll find that the hands lay still resting against the face. But at a moment's notice, they'll stand to dance to an increasingly building tempo. Has maturity robbed you from the cradle and redirected you to someone else’s casket? By spring, flattery will bloom when they call you by your dignified name, but wither in the presence of an invasive adolescent nickname. Do you feel as if you have fallen off the wheel, or has the wheel left the car completely? The calendar pages may seem as if they fly from the wall and encompass you in a whirlwind of time, but trust me, no one is asking for you to reschedule. Leave the regression and progression uncrossed from the to-do list. Age in your own time.
